With great joy and excitement the First Edition of Miradas 2015 Awards was held in a gala evening on February 12, 2016 at the JW Marriott Hotel Lima. This is the first time that companies, individuals and organizations of the tourism and gastronomic industry are honored at a national level by the Peruvian private sector due to their remarkable performance in the previous year.
The initiative emerged from the directors of the Peruvian Magazine Miradas, as an effort to integrate all the actors working in the tourism sector, and to acknowledge the hard work of entrepreneurs and professionals who continuously pursue the excellency; with the final aim of promoting the improvement of the quality and service of the entire sector.
Tucano Peru, led by Veronica Napurí –CEO & Founder– was selected winner in the category of Luxury Travel Agency among a large number of companies. This award confirms its 20 years leadership in the Peruvian market designing unique experiences for visitors traveling around Peru, through the provision of services and support of the highest standards. Ms. Napurí mentioned at the gala that they will soon launch new collections to the market, which will allow Tucano Peru to stay at the forefront of the luxury industry in terms of market trends.
In order to select the winner on each category, an evaluation committee of ten professionals specialized in tourism, communications and gastronomy was in charge of analyzing the candidates. Among the main qualification criteria were: quality of service, experience, best practices, quality management, leadership, and social and environmental responsibility. This award is a recognition to Tucano Peru for its impeccable track record in the fast growing luxury tourism segment in Peru.
The award ceremony was attended by several personalities from the tourism sector, most notably the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Ms. Magaly Silva. The Minister highlighted the importance of the event to generate a space to reward business with best practices, whose efforts contribute to the development of the tourism in Peru.
